GAME Australia Enters Administration

GAME, the videogame specialising retailer, just can’t seem to catch a break. Two months after the UK branch of GAME narrowly avoided becoming another boarded up shop on the high-street; the Australian branch of the store is now in trouble.
Seems that the TGW Pty Ltd (trading as GAME) appointed Kate Warwick and Greg Hall of PricewaterhouseCoopers, which is a company specialising in business and tax advice, as Voluntary Administrators.
What this means for the customer is the same thing that happened to GAME UK with Mass Effect 3; publishers are no longer sending new games to the retailer. So those that pre-ordered Diablo III will be missing out when it’s released tomorrow. To top it all if the customer put money down for these games they, won’t be getting it back; with the official statement on the website stating;
“We are not able to refund customer deposits and customers who have paid a deposit for a pre-ordered item at this stage should continue to monitor the website for further updates.”
In addition, the company will no long be accepting returns or trade-ins. Of course this is very annoying for everybody that pre-ordered the game but I think we should all remember that 92 stores are on the verge of closing down and that many jobs are currently uncertain.
