GAME Australia Enters Administration

GAME, the videogame specialising retailer, just can’t seem to catch a break. Two months after the UK branch of GAME narrowly avoided becoming another boarded up shop on the high-street; the Australian branch of the store is now in trouble.

Seems that the TGW Pty Ltd (trading as GAME) appointed Kate Warwick and Greg Hall of PricewaterhouseCoopers, which is a company specialising in business and tax advice, as Voluntary Administrators.

What this means for the customer is the same thing that happened to GAME UK with Mass Effect 3; publishers are no longer sending new games to the retailer. So those that pre-ordered Diablo III will be missing out when it’s released tomorrow. To top it all if the customer put money down for these games they, won’t be getting it back; with the official statement on the website stating;

“We are not able to refund customer deposits and customers who have paid a deposit for a pre-ordered item at this stage should continue to monitor the website for further updates.”

In addition, the company will no long be accepting returns or trade-ins. Of course this is very annoying for everybody that pre-ordered the game but I think we should all remember that 92 stores are on the verge of closing down and that many jobs are currently uncertain. For more information check out their FAQ on their website.
