Resistance: Fall of Man proved to be, by far, the most critically acclaimed and downright fun launch titles for the Playstation 3. And after about 2 years, can Resistance 2 fill the Shaq-sized shoes of its predecessor?

Resistance 2 is a sci-fi First Person Shooter game developed by Insomniac Games and released exclusively on the Playstation 3. One of the most talked about parts of Resistance 2 is the sheer scale of the game. In the single player campaign, returning hero Nathan Hale will be fighting huge boss fights that will put fights in its predecessor to shame. Another talked about feature is the scale of the online. Resistance 2′s competitive online will take up to 60 players, and put them onto large battlefields in several different game modes. The cooperative portion puts an astounding 8 different players against hordes of Chimera in a mission objective-like enviroment.

The story of Resistance 2 is fun and very engaging, something rarely seen in First Person Shooter campaigns. Basically, the meat of the plot takes place roughly 2 years after the events of Resistance 2. Nathan Hale has been promoted to Lieutenant and is tasked with resisting the impending invasion of the Chimera in the United States. Nathan and his squad of Sentinels (other soldiers infected with the Chimeran virus) go through different locales in the United States and battle the Chimera. I liked the different locations you visit through the United States, it gives you some different backgrounds on how each place was differently affected by the Chimeran Invasion. The story does a good job of explaining the backstory of Nathan Hale and the Resistance universe in general through the course of the game and also by the Intel Documents which return from the first Resistance. Disappointingly, Resistance 2 presents more questions than answers, which isn’t too surprisingly because Resistance 3 seems to be inevitable.
