2k have announced that Digital Extremes is developing the multiplayer component of BioShock 2.
Set before the downfall of Rapture players will take the role of plasmid test subjects, while playing you’ll gain experience points which will unlock new weapons, new plasmids and possible upgrades. Locations currently confirmed are the Kashmir Restaurant and Mercury Suites from the original Bioshock, expect many others from both the original and the sequel.
Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K said;
"With Digital Extremes delivering a multiplayer experience for BioShock 2 that features all of the things that make BioShock unique, we’re holding ourselves to a high standard so that we can deliver the depth and variety that fans of the BioShock universe demand."
With Digital Extremes résumé of the Unreal Tournament® franchise fans can expect the multiplayer aspect to live up to expectations. Hopefully you won’t have to pay extra to download it.
