Fable 2

Without giving away the entire storyline of the game, I will say that you start out as a kid who suddenly seems to have gone from rags to riches in a matter of about 20 minutes, depending on your pace with the game. Almost immediatly though you are thrown for a loop and the real story begins. You must seek revenge for those you have lost, while at the same time saving the beloved Albion. Along your journey you find other Heroes to help you along with your quest and bring peace to Albion once again. That’s not it though, there are more than enough activities to do in each town to keep you busy for days on end. Lionhead has filled this game to brim with things to do. Be it story based or just simply fun.

A big new edition to this release is your faithful, furry companion. Your dog. He goes with you everywhere and really will become like a real pet. He’s a great aid in finding all the pesky hidden treasure throughout the land as well as warning of oncoming enemies and will even try to help his master. I personally fell in love with my dog and thought it was a great add on, it gave the game a real personal touch. Another addition to the game is co-op play. You and a friend can play locally or you can meet up online and have some fun together with the townspeople or get some help with some of the storyline.

The levels in this game are absolutely beautiful. The colors are bright and vibrant and look as if you really are running through the woods/dungeon/temple/etc. I never once saw any signs of polygons or textures not filling in properly. This game is just visually astounding.

The gameplay is very easy to get used and master. Each type of weapon(sword, bow/pistol, and magic) are assigned to its own button and different manipulations of the buttons trigger different attacks/commands. While it is easy, it wasn’t necessarily the best way to do it. I would have liked to see the sword have different buttons to do different style slashes and the pistol/bow would have been much easier with the use of the triggers. Still, I had no major complaints what so ever.

This game definitely has a huge replayability factor for two reasons. There are three different ways to end the game and if you really want all those achievements, you have to run through it three times. But I think you’ll want to play all three times just for the sheer fun of the game. I haven’t had this much fun with a game for a while, seriously. If you at all enjoy action or RPG games, this is a must have/play.
