Microsoft 10 Year Plan

Microsoft division executive expresses the belief that the Xbox-360 will have a 10 year lifespan. The 360 was launched in 2005 meaning that the console will still be around in 2015, good news for fans. With the advent of Natal many believe this will enable the console to grow and advance preventing the games from stagnating.

The original Xbox only lasted 5 years closing down production in 2006, while its rivals at Sony had a much longer lifespan. The Playstation had an 11 year life span and the Playstation 2 is still going at the grand old age of 9.

This is not to say that a new generation of console from Microsoft won’t be coming out before 2015 but fans will be safe in the knowledge they won’t be dropped and will have time to scrape together the astronomical fee of the Xbox 1060: Zune (citation needed).
