Released last year, The Conduit promised to "bring hardcore Wii owners the Ultimate FPS experience". Many people enjoyed it, but the game had many flaws that destroyed much of its potential. Developer High Voltage Software knows that, and they've been working hard to make the sequel bring everything that missed on the first, and more.
The first game was mostly based on corridors, and the art direction was a bit poor. This time, the sceneries are more open and less boring looking. The stage played on the demo was on a dock of sorts. There are containers and stairs and guardrails everywhere, which is good. After killing some enemies, we found a lever and, with a bit of motion (similar to Metroid Prime 3), pulled it, which caused the boss to appear. The boss is a giant worm/bug that shoots at you, which reminds me a lot of Lost Planet.
The AI has improved. In one moment, the enemy twisted his body to dodge the bullets, as there was no cover. The challenge is also good. In fact, i lost to the boss described earlier.
Can Conduit 2 fix what the first's done wrong? it's early to say, but it seems like they're going on the right path. What HVS has yet to show, though, is something that shows that their game is worth being checked, with a saturated FPS market (even though it's a genre that lacks on the Wii). Conduit 2 is set to release this holiday.
