This is a game you might dismiss right off the bat but please don't, it's not a movie tie-in (at least
not in the term we all mean) and the deveoplers have really worked hard on creating a great platformer you just don't see anymore. Epic Micky sees us controlling the worlds most famous mouse as he travels through the world of the rejected characters, lands and theme-park rides. You'll find characters that you probably haven't seen for a long time or may have never even knew existed.
Controlling micket is second nature, analogue stick to move him around, a button to jump and again to do a double jump. Mickey has some interesting moves though, in the form of paint-tiner and paint. These will either allow you to wipe out the cartoonish backgrounds and characters with paint thinner or recreate areas or characters will you paint. This allows you to access new areas as you reveal hidden rooms behind the rocks or create platforms to gain new heights.
The game is split into three different sections, the adventure zones is a town area were you can talk to characters, acess additional missions, locate items and buy new items. One of the mini quests I tried in this zone was a character guarding a chest, he was questioning about what to get his girlfriend, flowers or some ice-cream. You then have to run around the area to locate 20 tickets and then trade in those tickets for whatever gift you think she'll like. Get here flowers and she'lll be happy and the man will leave the chest get the icecream however and the girlfriend will be rather upset. This is all part of the morality system we'll go into detail on later. Smee (Captain Hook's second hand man) is in this area and we would like you to save his pirate friends from being turned into robot-pirates. To do this you'll have to get to Skull island. To get to the next you'll have to go through a travel zone. These are classic 2D platforming games that really remind me of the old Mickey Mouse games I played back on the PS1 and even earlier. Each travel area is based around one of Micky's movies and we get to play through his first appearance again, in Steam-boat Willie. It's a rather simple map where you can easily rush through without any problem but there is also a load of collectables hidden above in a harder section to access. So you can just get to the next area or you can really enjoy the levels.

The last area is the action zone where you fight various enemies, test you platforming skills in harmful enivorments and attempt to complete the major tasks you've been set. In the case of Skull island you had to destroy the anchors that are holding in place.
The game has an interesting morality system, recreate the world using paint and people will treat you differently from if you solve all the problems with paint-thinner. This affects the dialogue, prices and what missions you'll be able to access. One mini-quest had me find three masks to get a shop up and running. I could find one mask and give it to the shop owner, then go around the back and destroy the back of his shop, steal the mask I had just given to him and then give it to him again. Do this to many times however and you'll get caught and have one unhappy shop owner. The moraity system therefore seems to give you multiple ways to solve the games many problems and will help provide the game with at least a second playthrough.
I think this game will be a surprise hit provided the 40 levels it has all manage to be as interesting and provide as many different ways to solve the problems as the few sections we've already seen.
