Assassin's Creed is known for being the best-selling new IP, turning it into a huge franchise in no time. The sequel fixed many of the mistakes of the original and added many new things. The third game on the big consoles, entitled Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, takes place not long after the end of Assassin's Creed II, and the developers claim it'll have the longest single player in the history of Assassin's Creed. But the big thing about Brotherhood is the addition of a multiplayer mode.
If you're familiar with the series, you might be wondering how a combat based on one-hit kills can become an online game. The answer is simple: you're the hunter and the hunt at the same time, and you can't have direct combat. You choose your character and the set of "special skills" he'll use to avoid his killer or kill his victim more easily.
Once the game starts, each player is assigned a "contract", showing a picture of the victim. Many NPCs with the same model as the characters will be around, so in order to know who's the player, you can use a radar and your common sense: the radar points you where you have to move to find your victim and, if you spot your killer, it'll point where he is so you can run away; as for the common sense, it's a matter of observing the behavior. NPCs will just walk around, so if you see someone running or climbing, you know it's a player.
That said, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is the first game in the Assassin's Creed franchise to really give a sense of stealth. if you don't hide, you'll be spotted by your killer or your victim, and you earn more points by killing stealthly. You also earn points from aerial kills, but that means taking risks. You also earn points from successfully escaping your killer. At the end of the round, the player with most points win.
It's unclear how the single player mode will work, but one thing is for sure; Assassin's Creed Brotherhood will take up quite a bit of your time with it's addicting multiplayer mode, which owners of a X360, PS3 or PC will be able to enjoy on November 16.
