DECK OUT YOUR WHOLE BODY IN GAMING GEAR
The Top Gaming Clothing Items to Buy this Christmas! Or is that an oxymoron?

Posted by J A on Dec 9, 2010 08:40 (Dec 9, 2010 08:40)

I, like a lot of self professed Gamers, am actually a bit ashamed of the fact I am a Gamer. As such while I may covet gaming based T-shirts and admire the designs I will never be seen wearing one outside. I own a few already, that never see the light of day, but thankfully I didn’t pay one pence for them.

However that said if you’re the type of guy to shout out your love for the virtual world or know somebody that does then maybe these will be right up your street. So here we have the head to toe guide of gaming clothing with everything in-between.

Arcade Beanie

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but it’s cold out there. Unless you know, it’s not, but I can assure you somewhere it is cold so let’s protect our heads with this understated arcade based beanie. Stitched within the black band are images from PacMan and Space Invaders sure to be recognised even by people with minimum knowledge of videogames.

Sold by SplitReason, via Amazon for $15.95.

Triple Heart Life Meter.

Oh life meters, do you remember when games had life meters instead of a mysterious red haze that envelops the screen from the sides? Back in the days when gaming was for men; hide behind that rock all you want you’re not going to get any healthier. No real men would cut open monsters and gorge on their still beating hearts or on a few occasions spend 1 minute drinking from the toilet bowl.

Well with this shirt you can tell everybody you’re at full-health and a real man who may or may not drink from the toilet. It comes in many different colours, styles and sizes from Causally Hardcore from $14.99. Also it doubles as a Scot Pilgrim base design which is, er, neat.

8-Bit Tie.

For the man that needs to wear a suit but isn’t happy about it I give you the 8-bit tie. I sure as hell know I didn’t wear one of those at school but the classic design somehow instantly brings be back to my classroom days. To top it all the ties are hand-made.

The only down side to the tie is that it’s a clip on but as ThinkGeek points out the effect would be ruined if you had to tie the, erm, tie. Retails at $14.99 from, I just said it, ThinkGeek.

Space Invader Pendant

In the words of DJ Fernando Martinez “All women know that if you can't support a medallion, you can't support a family." So let’s show the world that we can support a small Space Invader based pendant, well its close enough isn’t it?

This small understated little square is perfect for those that want to keep gaming close to their heart. It’s only £4.50 from Pendant Pixie.

Assassini Hoodie

So I’ve recently been killing ne'er-do-wells in the Renaissance time period only be dragged back kicking and screaming in a society that doesn’t allow me to hide a five inch blade designed to covertly kill people up my sleeve. It’s political correctness gone mad I tell you.

Thankfully then I can still tell people I’m an assassin at heart with GamerPrint’s £25 hoodie. It comes in white or red and they can also put it on a T-shirt.

Prototype Jacket

I have a love for jackets, it’s a bizarre love that generally sets me back a lot of money. I also have a love of leather but sadly can’t grow a macho moustache. As such I expect the best and I’ve found it with this stunning replica leather jacket originally worn by Alex Mercer in Prototype.

See this is the kind of thing you could wear and nobody would ever get the reference apart from the most nerdiest of people. Who would shuffle over, paw at your arm and gently sniff. Frankly I would be willing to put up with all that but with a hefty price tag of $355/£230 from Soul Revolver I won’t be getting it.

Console War Pins.

If you’ve been to any gaming forum in the last 10 years then you know that people do like to compare, contrast and then intelligently discuss the pros and cons of each gaming console. Before finally reaching the conclusion that they each have their merits and it’s generally down to the games you can get on the system that matter, and this means, it is completely up to opinion.

Nope sorry I was thinking of something else. The Xbox suxks and is 4 ‘bundles of sticks bound tightly together‘. Well now you can bring your love of consoles outside into the real world, profess your love of the Dreamcast with one of these stylish pins from SuperMandolini retailing at 18 Euros each. Of course there are badges for many types of consoles but the Dreamcast is best, duh!

Garter Hot-Pants

For the underwear side of things let’s be a little bit adventurous. What in all that is holy does that have to do with videogames? Well notice the shape, how it has a seat section and then it appears to have straps lower down on the legs. Oh yeah you better believe it. These aren’t any bright orange Lycra garter hot-pants, these are Lara Croft bright orange Lycra garter hot-pants.

They come in a section of colours for your pleasure and to add to the fun they glow in the UV light, never be caught short in the club again! Purchase from UltravioletClubWear for £27.99, I’ve already ordered three.
