A new month means new games are on the horizon. To help you out, we will give you a heads up as to what is releasing in the month to come. This monthly guide will give you a small preview and link you to any eventual reviews we will have for you.

This February looks to be an extremely promising and busy month for gamers headlined by the Playstation Vita’s launch. Hope you recovered from the holiday line-up and are ready to get playing again. Please note that all release dates are for NA.

January 31: Soul Caliber V (360/PS3), Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3/X360):
Yeah, they aren’t released in February, but its close enough to throw them in.

February 7:
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (X360/PS3/PC):
Being pegged as a cross between God of War and Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Kingdoms of Amalur boasts a huge open world where you can seek out quests to uncover a mythology of 10,000 years. This action RPG’s battle system focuses on twitch reaction like the God of War series. With star power like Todd McFarlane designing the world, R. A. Salvatore creating the mythology, and a lead designer Ken Rolston from the Elder Scrolls series, this looks to be a fantastic action RPG that will suck away hours of your life. A playable demo is available.

Resident Evil: Revelations (3DS):
It’s the first big release of the year for the 3DS. With Revelations, Capcom looks to take the Resident Evil franchise back to its survival horror roots as opposed to Resident Evil 4 and 5’s action heavy approach. That means limited ammo and a greater focus on puzzles and exploration. Exploration is helped by the Supply Scanner to search the environment for items. The title makes use of the 3DS’s second screen for inventory management. Taking place between Resident Evil 4 and 5, you play as Jill Valentine looking for missing BSAA agents on the SS Queen Zenobia. A playable demo is available on the 3DS’s eShop.

Darkness 2 (X360/PS3/PC):
Taking place two years after the first game, you play as Jackie Estacado fighting his way through a mob war between those who want to control the powers of darkness. Gameplay will be very similar to the original. You will use the powers of The Darkness to attack enemies and interact in many different ways with the surrounding environment. A playable demo is available.

Jak and Daxter Collection (PS3):
Another HD collection hits stores in the form of the Jak and Daxter games. You will receive PS2 classics Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak 2, and Jak 3 all on one disk with upgraded HD resolution. Created by Naughty Dog (now of Uncharted fame), these titles follow the adventures of Jak and his sidekick Daxter through forests, deserts, city slums, and through time.

+1
Kingdoms Of Amalur, if the demo and everything I\'ve read about it so far is any indication, is going to be an absolute EVENT in the western-RPG genre.
