There's a sequel?

I really enjoyed 30 Days of Night, I never read the comic book series so I’m not sure how well it was adapted but I thought it was a nice gritty vampire movie that did away with the charm and the sexual content you often find in other vampire based movies.
 
The trailer for the sequel however doesn’t fill me with confidence, that and it’s a direct to DVD movie. Alarm bells should be ringing that it’s a cheap follow up that won’t be anywhere near as good as the original.
