A RAMBO PREQUEL IS POSSIBLE.
According to Sylvester Stallone.

According to Movie Hole Sylvester Stallone is thinking about adding a prequel to the Rambo franchise. Detailing the Vietnam War and exploring the mysterious past of the old warrior.

Fear not those that thought Stallone’s saggy muscles were off putting in Rambo 4, because if it does go ahead a younger actor will play Rambo with Stallone directing;

''I certainly think this is worth pondering because it’s intriguing to find the whys and wherefores of how people have come to become what they are'' Stallone said. "The traumas, the loss and the tragedy of being in Vietnam would certainly be a great challenge for a young actor and it would be ironic that Rambo directs younger Rambo after having played it for 20 plus years."

I’ve enjoyed the Rambo series but I always found the morals shoe-horned in-between all the shooting, explosions and deaths tripe. Stallone’s attempt to provide social commentary and moral disapproval with the end of gun fails to give the issues involved credit; especially the third. So I’m a bit worried if he attempts to revisit Vietnam it’ll be one big mess.

Considering that in the book the movie was based on, John Rambo dies at the end, I think that it would be bad taste to make a prequel.  But when has hollywood ever stuck to good taste?
