It has been years since I last played Star Trek Online, not since trying out the Beta actually. I think that says more about what I thought of the game at the time than anything I can say now could. It showed promise but it really wasn’t for me. However since those early Beta days a lot has been added to the game and with the episodic content some people say it’s successfully “grown the beard”.

 

Today is the day that Star Trek Online officially goes free-to-play. They had a couple of trial runs in the past so it’s not really a big shock. Those that play the free service will have an impressive amount of in-game options but those that pay will of course get a bit extra. For a full detailed list check here.
