Iwata Wants Lots Of Games Following U

At a recent Investors Briefing, Iwata discussed how the release of Wii U needs to be followed by a strong momentum of games, and if not, the CEO wants to have "a backup plan ready", just incase third parties drop the ball...

"In determining the launch date of the Wii U, we need to take into account not only what to release at the launch period but how to keep the sales momentum after then. In the past, I mentioned that having strong momentum is very important for game platform businesses, and as a matter of course, we are now more convinced of that and we need to have a backup plan ready" -Iwata

Hopefully Nintendo and other developers can deliver on the games, and the new system will not require a hefty price drop to get consumers to purchase. Smaller projects, DLC and HD Classics should fill the gaps in release nicely.

It will be interesting to see which titles they have on launch day. Pikmin 3 will probably be there but what else? The new HD Zelda must be a long way off, a new Mario game possibly? Haven\'t had a new Metroid game for a couple of years now. Like I said it will be interesting, maybe they\'ll rely more on third-party support this time around.
