Curt Schilling, former Major League Baseball superstar and more currently, owner and force behind 38 Studios describes the weeks leading up to the release of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning as "breathtaking".  Schilling in a 13 minute interview with Boston based sports talk radio, WEEI confirmed over two million downloads of the demo and spoke candidly about the five year journey it took to create the anticipated action/RPG set for release, February, 7th in North America.

Understand, this is exactly like professional baseball, exactly like sports. This is all about the people on your team.  This is not about a better widget or reinventing the wheel, its about the people.  Every great business is.

Schilling goes on to say...

Our team is almost 400 big now and we have a group of people who have shipped over 13 billion dollars of product.  These guys have been on every major successful game that has come out the past 15 years.

When asked about Schillings own personal financial contributions to the game, Schilling opens up and says...

(If this fails) I may have to work for EEI and it might not be on air.  You could say I'm all in but I don't know any other way to do things.  I'm all in not just financially, but personally.  This is five years, seven days a week, you're in the office every day.  We're stretching the days.  It's nine to nine and what they call crunch time. I'm incredibly proud of my team and incredibly proud of what we accomplished.  I believe we knew what we had two years ago and now the rubber is going to meet the road.

Schilling, a 20 year MLB veteran and three time world series champion has never been known to go into anything half heartedly, whether it be sports, politics and now gaming.  The industry now waits to see if his tenacious competitive nature and passion for gaming can put him on top once again...

A lot of companies have stopped listening to players.  They build what they believe the market wants instead of what the market tells them they want. We're a company full of gamers who are passionate about making awesome games.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning developed by Big Huge Games/38 Studios and published by EA sets to release Tuesday.
