WII GAMES IN DEVELOPMENT ON DECLINE

![]() The Wii, it came on the scene to a load of jokes about its name, nay-saying about how waggling it’s remote around was stupid and that Nintendo had finally lost it and would soon have to drop out of the console business. How wrong they were eh? The name make it easy for people worldwide to know and we’ve got use to it, the Wii waggling seems to make it appeal to a much large demographic than any previous console and both Sony and Microsoft have come up with their own “advanced” waggling applications not to mention the fact Nintendo have made a fortune with it filling their coffers to new highs.
Seems however the honeymoon period is finally wearing off, as many gamers are put off by the very games that attracts a different audience and the announcement that Sega and Capcom are stopping to make mature games for the Wii and that Ubisoft is focusing on other consoles it comes as no great shock that the number of Wii games in development is in decline.
This is according to the Game Developer Research survey, which shows around 41 percent of the respondents said they made games for consoles, with 30 percent of them working on the Wii. That's down from the 42 percent of console developers who said they made Wii games last year.
While an odd 69 percent of console developers reported making games for the Xbox 360, with 61 percent working on the PlayStation 3 and a massive 70 percent saying they have PC games in development. Interesting development for the iphone increased from 12 percent to 15, perhaps appealing to that wider demographic the Wii and DS so thoughtfully set up.
